Lunden Azuara

Coach Lunden brings over a decade of experience, passion, and high-level playing success to the court. Coaching club volleyball since 2013, she has worked with athletes of all levels—leading, mentoring, and building teams that not only compete but thrive.

Lunden’s coaching journey began at LoneStar (2013–2016), then continued with Arsenal (2016–2020), and Drive Nation (2020–2022) and has now returned to Arsenal to assist with long time friend and teammate Coach Bella. She has coached players from ages 11 to 18, offering a wealth of knowledge and adaptability across all levels of club volleyball.

As a player, Lunden was a standout outside hitter at every level. In high school (2004–2008), she was a 3-year varsity starter, earning All-District honors as both a junior and senior and being named District Most Valuable Hitter and All-State her senior year. She played club at Skyline, where she developed into a powerful and consistent offensive threat.

Lunden’s collegiate career at Southeastern Oklahoma State University (2008–2012) was nothing short of exceptional. As a freshman, she was named LoneStar Conference Freshman of the Year, earned 1st Team All-Conference, and set the freshman kill record with 412. Over the next three years, she continued to dominate, becoming:

  • The 1st player in school history to record a 30-kill/30-dig match, and the only DII player in the nation to do so that year.

  • 1 of only 5 players across all NCAA divisions to have a 30-kill match that season.

  • The 2nd player in program history to surpass both 1,500 career kills and 1,500 digs.

  • Holder of the 2nd-best kill season (602) and 3rd-best dig season (589) in school history.

  • Ranked 4th in NCAA Division II in kills per set (4.70) and 3rd in points per set (5.34).

  • Recorded a school-record 62 double-doubles, including eleven 20-20 matches.

  • A 6-time consecutive GAC Player of the Week, and the 1st ever Great American Conference Player of the Year.

  • Named AVCA and Daktronics All-American, and Southeastern’s Female Athlete of the Year.

After college, Lunden continued her volleyball journey by playing on an international tour through Italy, Slovenia, Austria, and the Czech Republic.

Now, as a coach, Lunden is fueled by more than wins on the scoreboard. Her favorite coaching memories come from watching her athletes succeed in life—on and off the court. “As much as I love to win on the court,” she says, “nothing makes me happier than seeing my kids win in life—because it’s not all about volleyball.”

Lunden’s success as an undersized outside hitter gives her a unique coaching edge. She understands the importance of IQ, grit, and creativity, and brings those lessons into every training session. Her goal is not just to create great athletes—but strong, confident, and resilient people.

She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health with a minor in Criminal Justice from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Off the court, Lunden works as a Senior Safety Manager for a general contractor in commercial construction. She still plays competitively in her free time—keeping her game sharp and her love for volleyball alive.

“It’s about more than volleyball—I want to help my players win at life.”
